Book Review 3

ALICE THROUGH ZOMBIE GLASS:

Ali had lost everything, her family, her friends, her home. Just as she thinks her life can’t get any worse, it does. After a Zombie nest strikes at the big Tigers game, Ali gets bitten by a slayer himself. Suddenly things aren’t the same anymore; mirrors come to life, voices whisper in her head and she has the urge to slay the slayers, not the zombies. Will she find a cure for the terrible darkness inside of her, or will she destroy everything and everyone… Forever.

Personally I really liked this book for it was the sequel to Alice In Zombieland. I would rate this book a 4/5
because I really enjoyed the thriller part as well as the mystery. I would recommend this book for 12 year olds and over because of the big boy words and the visions (to understand that you have to read the book yourself.) The third book to this is The Queen Of Zombie Hearts (also part of The White Rabbit Chronicles.)

Book Review 2

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter.

A description of the book:
One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone. Forever. That’s all it took for Alice Bell to lose her little sister, her family, her… world. Before this tragic accident on Alice’s sixteenth birthday, her Dad had warned her about the ‘monsters’ that lurk in darkness. Everyone thought Alice’s dad was crazy but is he right? Are there such things as, ‘monsters’? She learns to slay the zombies along with her new friends and somewhat even a boyfriend that she has to learn to trust. They have secrets of their own, but if she doesn’t uncover their secrets, they might just prove to be more dangerous than the ‘monsters’ themselves. She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to it’s grave. Forever.

I find this book very entertaining, especially for people aged 12 and up who like romance and thriller/crime. I would rate this book a 5/5 because it grabs you right at the start. This book is apart of a series (The White Rabbit Chronicles.) The sequel to this book is Through The Zombie Glass.

Book Review 1

MISS PEREGRINES’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is a young adult novel written by Ransom Riggs. This magical story has many peculiar characters including the main character Jacob Portman, a sixteen-year-old boy from Florida. As he finds himself in a horrific family tragedy, he follows his grandpa’s clues to an abandoned children’s home on a mysterious island called Cairnholm. Follow Jacob and the peculiar children as they take you on an adventure to stop the evil and save the children.

I would recommend this book for tweeners (ten years and up) who like creepy horror tied with magical mystery. I would rate this book a 4/5 because of  its interesting storyboard and photos (included in the novel). The squeal to Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children is Hollow City.

Sphero 5 Questions

For the entire project, what do you believe could be added, changed or removed?

Personally we liked the race because it was fun, competitive and exciting so we wouldn’t change anything.

Did we connect with our community in a meaningful way? Explain your answer.

Yes, because we had students from all age groups come and play with the Spheros- after school, Sphero racing/obstacle course e.g. We believe most of the students enjoyed the experience by the comments they made after.

How does this link to the Australian curriculum?

It links to the Australian curriculum because of the coding and technology, building the prototype, forces and using the launch cycle.

What is the difference between your chariot and the winners chariot?

The differences between our chariot and the winners chariot are the wheels, the shape (height, length) and the Spheros holder.

Explain how we designed and built the chariots?

We used discs for the wheels, a cup to hold the Sphero, cut up pop sticks for the driver’s seat, and pop sticks to link them all together.

Poems

This week we have been looking at different types of poems. Each day we had to write one type of poem because  5 poems were due in 5 days and extra if needed. I choose to write a Haiku, Bio Poem, Diamante, Blackout Poem, Concrete, Freeverse and a rhyming poem (aabb & abab.)

In the end we had to fill out a Self Assessment sheet to see how many elements of poetry we included.

Hope you enjoy my poems!

5×5 Alliteration

Bouncing off of the bends, the bright blue Sphero believes to be the best.

“KIP! KIP!” the crowd cries as he crashes.

The round red Sphero races around the radical raceway.

“STOP!” shouts Sophia as her Sphero suddenly slides off of the side.

Turning around the tight turn, tiny Charlie tipped his chariot.
